Instructions regarding Nikāh Announcements

While announcing a Nikāh, sometimes the procedure pertaining to this issue is not followed. For example:

The Nikāh Forms are not properly completed after the announcement of Nikāh.

Similarly, according to the laid down procedures, the copies of the completed Nikāh forms are not distributed to the Groom, Wali of the Bride and two copies to office of the National Headquarters for record keeping purposes.

When cases arise in Qadā and or Ūmur` Amma, copies of the Nikāh Form are not available with the Groom, the Bride or the office.

Due to these reasons, it has been decided certain changes are being made in the process for the announcement of the Nikāh.

Prior approval of the Nikāh forms by Amīr Jamā`at Canada must be obtained before the announcement of any Nikāh in Canada.

It is mandatory to obtain a Marriage Licence before the announcement of any Nikāh in Canada.

Marriage Licences must be registered with the Registrar of Marriages before the announcement of Nikāh. A copy of the registration of marriage should also be attached when approval is being sought from National Headquarters.

The person performing the Nikāh should ensure that paragraphs IX and X of the Nikāh Form are completed at the time of the announcement of Nikāh. After completion of the Nikāh forms, he should give one copy each to the Groom and the Guardian of the Bride and forward two copies to the National headquarters for record purposes.

The Presidents of local Jamā`ats should write the member codes of the Bride and Groom on the Nikāh form Sections IV & VI for verification purposes and not their own codes.

The Presidents of local Jamā`ats should see that the Dower money is at least $10,000, in case the Bridegroom is a resident of Canada.

In case of a second Nikāh, the Jamā`at will ensure that all the liabilities of either parties have been paid in full, before the approval of the second Nikāh is granted.

Nikāh

By the grace of Allāh, on July 29 2011, the Nikāh of Maryam Ahmed sāhiba, daughter of Mr. Malik Mubasher Ahmed sāhib of Peace Village East Jamā`at, was announced with Mr. Joseph Mark Seager, son of Mr. Mark Seager and Jo Ann Maugans of Texas, USA Jamā`at, with a dower money of $50,000 Canadian Dollars. Respected Lal Khan Malik sāhib, Amīr Jamā`at Ahmadīyya Canada, performed the Nikāh and prayed for the success of this union. May Allāh bless both families. Āmīn.

Erratum

In the November-December 2011 issue of the Ahmadīyya Gazette Canada, a typo was made on page 79 in the list of those who passed away.
No. 13 should read:

“Sh. Khurshid Ahmed Sāhib (Mūsī)”
